After writing about the benefits of chocolate for your skin for In Defense Of Chocolate, and unable to shake my chocolate fever (thanks to the upcoming Chocolate Festival) I decided to share a calorie free way of benefiting from the cacao seed’s antioxidant and flavonoids. Here’s a simple chocolate facial you can try at home. It will leave your skin soft, supple and fresh. As with anything you put on your face, please do a patch test on a small section of your inner wrist and wait 24 hours before slathering your cheeks down in this facial frosting.
Ingredients
- 2 Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2oz heavy whipping cream
Tools
- Measuring spoons
- Measuring cup
- Whisk
- Mixing bowl
Directions
Place two tablespoons of cocoa in your mixing bowl.
Next, pour in 2oz of whipping cream.
Whisk until the mixture takes on a frothy, cream-like consistency.
It should look a little like this.
Now you’re ready to apply. Spread a generous layer of cocoa mask all over your face, making sure to avoid your eyes. Leave this mask on for approximately 15 minutes.
It smells great (provided you’re a chocolate fan) and if your tongue happens to wander, it’s completely edible. You can store this mask covered in your refrigerator for approximately one week.
